TROPHIES – REWARDS

TROPHIES (WHAT IS YOUR DESIRED TROPHY/REWARD?)
As this soccer season draws to a close it is a time that we look forward to receiving the recognition for our efforts throughout the year. Yes, that means Trophies and what joy does that bring, especially to our children. We all need, or crave, recognition for the effort we devote to the tasks that we have committed to. At the very least we appreciate the pats on the back and positive comments for a job well done directed our way by friends and family. No doubt those accolades are well deserved, and are an expression of appreciation from those who have benefited from our efforts. Being a part of an organisation that is dedicated to spreading the love of Christ to all who come within our reach is being obedient to the instructions that Jesus gave us when He said:-
And He said unto them, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15 (KJV)
Then said Jesus to them again, “Peace be unto you. As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.” John 20:21 (KJV)
Don’t we place these trophies in prominent places in our homes? We should then look upon them as reminders of our commitment to the work of the Lord. I am often reminded of the pleasant experiences that are brought back to my mind as I gaze on these shiny emblems of thanks and appreciation for my participation in various activities. It is perfectly natural to feel the pleasure of receiving thanks and recognition from our human companions. In fact it is a blessing that provides pleasure not only to ourselves but to those who are expressing their thanks as well.
While I am grateful to receive recognition, I am careful to put things into the proper perspective and constantly remind myself that this participation is a tool for me to recognize opportunities the Lord puts in my path to be a witness for Christ.
We can find many reminders throughout scriptures that refer to our rewards:-
Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people. You know that you will receive an inheritance as a reward. You serve the Lord Christ. But evildoers will receive their reward for their evil actions. There is no discrimination. Colossians 3:23-25 (CEB)
What is the trophy/reward that you desire?
Don’t you know that all the runners in the stadium run, but only one gets the prize? So run to win. Everyone who competes practices self-discipline in everything. The runners do this to get a crown of leaves that shrivel up and die, but we do it to receive a crown that never dies.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (CEB)
Know that our prize, our reward, is ETERNITY, life everlasting spent in the presence of the Father. What could be more rewarding than that?
