Don’t you just love old photos? I look at them and wonder what the story behind them is. They tell us a story of the past, don’t they? I’m sure most of us have photo albums of the events that have filled our lives and provide memories of the events that gave us such joy at that time. Your wedding album for instance. I would hazard a guess that there is not one of us who does not have one of those stashed away somewhere in the house. What a feeling you get when you flip through its pages and relive the experiences of that day. Retelling the stories that define who we are.

Here is one for instance. I’ll bet you will never guess who that is!! Well, it probably means a lot more to me than it does to you. It tells a story of a first car, freedom for the first time to go where you want and when you want. It highlights an important mile stone in life as it presents choices to be made that have consequences to be accepted. The consequences of those choices are what teach us how to make the correct choices in our life. The pain of having made a bad decision and the pleasure of the outcome of a correct decision. These are some of the lessons of life that we can learn from.

Well there are many ways of remembering what is, and was,  important to us throughout our lives. We could listen to the stories that others tell of their experiences, or we could read the biographies of high achievers in our communities that tell of their life experiences, successes and failures.

You know, I know of a book that is by far the best story ever told. Yes of course it is the Bible. It has within its pages the experiences of those who lived long ago. It tells of their successes and failures; the consequences and rewards that spring from the choices they made. We should read it often and meditate on the message it brings. See, for instance the story found in Matthew 3 :-

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Matthew 3:1-2

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Matthew 3:11

Reading is one way to get the story and while we don’t have any pictures of what took place in the time of John the Baptist, we can listen to the story being told. I always like listening to a story and lets face it, we have such a massive amount of technology these days we are spoiled for choice. So here is a choice you can make right now, I can assure you the consequences of choosing to listen are going to be pleasurable.

So having listened to the story, can you say you have made the right choices in your life? If we are honest with ourselves the answer would be; maybe we could have done better with some of them.  Remember the message from my previous Chappie’s Chat? It asked the question, –

The answer:- Receiving Christ into your life makes all the difference.

The Greatest STORY ever told is THE LESSON for Eternal Life; ARE YOU READY?
