Training Update

Friday, 24 February 2012

Hey hey hey it's Friday and what a week!

On Monday: I went down to Springwood to help out with U7s first training for the year. 4 out of 5 teams have coaches and what fine coaches they are. The U10s followed. Coach Taylor and Coach Hayden had a great turn out and there are certainly some Socceroos in the making in this squad (SEE NOTE BELOW RE TRAINING NIGHT CHANGE). The Senior Men rounded out the night at Springwood while the Over 30s and 40s trained over at Oates Park. At the end of the first day, God smiled and saw that it was good!

On Tuesday: I went down to Springwood to coach the U14s with Coach Rod. It was great to see a couple of new faces (not that we were in any way disappointed with the old ones). The Senior Women had their first run on Tuesday with Coach Graham. At the end of the second day, God smiled and saw that it was good!

On Wednesday: I got caught up at work so missed catching up with the U9s (Coach Richard, Coach Rohan and Coach Isaac), the U12s (Coach Russell), our inaugural U16 girls team (2011 coach of the year Lana) and the two U18 teams (Coach Steve and Coach Rob). At the end of the third day (despite the Director of Coaching not showing up), God STILL smiled and saw that it was good!

On Thursday: I went to Springwood again to help out with the U11s (Coach Sam and Assistant Coach Todd), the U8s came in at 5:30 (Coach Steve and Coach Amy) and these guys (the players) look great! The U13s rocked up at 6:30 and were taken through their paces by Coach Steve (technically super coach for an U7s team but stepped to cover Coach Ian who had a prior commitment (SEE NOTE BELOW RE TRAINING NIGHT CHANGE). Rounding off the week saw the U16 boys come together under Coach Jim. At the end of the fourth day, God smiled and saw that it was good!

So here we are on Friday, God has smiled, He's seen what is good and I'm excited for the season ahead. There are just a couple of CHANGES to the PRESEASON schedule that have been made possible due to the generous flexibility of several AWESOME coaches.

- U10s will be moving to THURSDAYS at 6:30
- U13s will be moving to WEDNESDAYS at 4:30

A HUGE thank you to all the mums, dads, grans, uncles, aunts and neighbours that brought players to training this week, a MASSIVE thank you to the super coaches who have stepped up this year and a GIGANTIC thank you to all the players for showing up and having a great time.

See you soon,
