As we commence our season, thank you to our Coaching Staff for their willingness to volunteer coaching a team this year. I pray that The Lord will give you His wisdom as you proceed into the season.

As I have mentioned in previous years, I would like to remind the parents and players of the club that all the roles within the Club are volunteer positions. Most of our Coaches, Managers and Executive are people that have full time work commitments and families of their own. They are giving of their time to support you or your children as we enjoy the season.

I wrote the following paragraphs for the 2015 year and I have not changed them. My hope and prayer is that the QCSA, our club and each of our lives will glorify God. The message is for us all and is core to authentic Christianity. We need to repent from sin (everything that is an offence to God) and believe Him in what He has said and what He has done.

We were all made by God and for God. We were made for the Glory of God (to bring Him Glory). Our lives do have real purpose. We were created with a will. A will to choose. To choose whether we will seek God (the One who made us for Himself), a will to choose whether we will obey Him in the way He has told us we should live.

All of us are fallen through sin. ”For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” Romans 3: 23. God seeks to reconcile us to Himself through The Lord Jesus Christ and His death at Calvary and resurrection. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16

Joshua 24:15 contain the words “Choose you this day whom you will serve” What will you do? Will you choose to serve The Lord Jesus Christ? Will you choose to live according to His instruction?

How does this pertain to soccer this year you may ask? Every area of our life is important to God. Do we represent Him in our attitudes, our conduct and our words? How we play the game, interact with others, spectate and participate, do we bring Him glory? Do we seek to please Him and put Him first? The “Catch Cry” of QLD Christian Soccer Association is “FOR GOD THROUGH SPORT”

I pray this season we will glorify Him.

God bless you all.

Kind regards

Mitchell Simpson
